Well summer has begun, and I just got back from a nice trip to Sweden, London, and the middle of a strange and haunted old countryside in England. But, of course, my main topic here is Sweden, which I find to be, quite possibly the most underrated place of all time. The moment I stepped into the airport in Stockholm, I loved it. Everything was simple, organized, modern, and color coded!
Although I had just come off an 8 hour flight, and was insanely jet-lagged, I fell in love with the city. Now, my parents said "oh, you just like it because you're not on the plane anymore." And, sure, I see why they may think that, but that's not why.
When we left the airport, we drove into the center of Stockholm to our hotel. As we were driving, I noticed how remarkably clean and well-kept the city was. (I looked it up later, and Stockholm is actually the 2nd cleanest city in Europe!) After recovering from the flight, I walked around the city, and saw all the beautiful buildings and amazing stores, and I realized what a mix of modern and historical buildings they had.
In the city, the majority of people bike everywhere, and the biking infrastructure is amazing. There are basically second sidewalks designated only for bike all over the city.
Another aspect of Stockholm that I love is the size. It's not like New York or Boston, It's only about 2,500 miles. All in all, Sweden is just an amazing place; it's modern, eco-friendly, innovative and welcoming.
